On 16 June 2016, the School of law in Birkbeck, the University of London, will host a TARN lecture ‘Can the EU Regulate a Financial Crisis?’ Led by Professor Ellen Vos, the lecture addresses the financial future of Europe. It also deals with the bane of many a Brexit campaigner: the nature and legitimacy of EU regulation as a whole. How does the EU regulate? Is the EU legitimate and, in particular, is it effective, especially as regards financial security for the consumer?
The event is a part of Birkbeck’s annual Law on Trial week-long programme of free-to-attend public lectures and panel discussions. This year it is set to take place one week before the referendum where the UK decides on its future in Europe. More information on the TARN lecture and the full programme can be found here.
The TARN lecture will take place on the fourth day of the Law on Trial from 18.30 to 20.00 (BST). The event will be followed by a reception hosted by TARN.
